Donnelly welcomes Council maintenance work in Crossmaglen

March 30, 2010

SDLP Slieve Gullion Councillor, Geraldine Donnelly, has welcomed the news that Newry and Mourne District Council has agreed to carry out resurfacing work in the car park at Crossmaglen Chapel.

“I have constantly raised this issue with council officials and I am pleased that the work will now be brought forward [to April 12th].  The car park is an important facility for mass-goers and for the general public.  It is important that it is maintained to the highest standards,” Ms Donnelly said.

Councillor Donnelly also drew the council officials’ attention to the condition of walls in Crossmaglen Square, which are unsightly with dirt and peeling paint.

She expressed satisfaction that they agreed to ‘freshen up’ the area by power-hosing and painting the walls.

“I congratulate the council staff on the good work they do in ensuring that the Square looks its best at all times and I am sure that this additional work will enhance the appearance of the area with summer approaching,” Councillor Donnelly added.
