April 6, 2010

The Sheridan Stage School is pleased to announce the opening of their new drama classes at the Ti Chulainn Centre in Mullaghawn. This Theatre School was established 12 years ago in Newry and offers classes in all aspects of performing arts.  It is now firmly recognised as one of the top drama centres in N.Ireland for young people who wish to explore both their imaginations and creative abilities.

The Sheridan Stage School will offer weekly classes during term time and will also run a wide range of courses.  Classes are open to all ages and are led by fully qualified teachers who have a unique combination in both practical application and theoretical expertise.

Why Drama?

Drama is of value to everyone, not only those who wish to become performers.  It improves and develops confidence, awareness, expression, concentration and problem solving. The Sheridan Stage School aims to enhance the valuable social skills needed for work and leisure and will promote interaction with others, creativity, spontaneity and adaptability.  Students will rehearse and perform in continuous class plays and may participate in our One Act Play Festival which takes place every year in Newry.  They may become part of The Sheridan Stage School Agency which has had many success stories to date including film and television castings.

Students will enter examinations with New Era Academy, London.  This examination board has been awarded accreditation from Ofqual (the office and examinations regulator for the Uk).  All graded examinations are recognised within the National Curriculum Framework by Ofqual, CCEA and ACCAC and New Era have also been accepted within the UCAS tariff and all senior students will receive extra points for university by entering these examinations.  The Sheridan Stage School will enter students for grades in Speech and Drama and Acting.
