Sad passing of popular publican

The sad passing of one of south Armagh’s most prominent former businessmen occcurred on Thursday.
Gerry Donnelly, Legmoylin Road, passed away in Daisy Hill Hospital following a short illness.
A well-known and popular business man in the south Armagh area, Gerry ran a family shop and pub in the heart of Silverbridge for many years.
Tragedy visited the family when they lost their son, Michael, aged just 14, in a loyalist paramilitary attack on the bar in December 1975.
Gerry was buried in Glassrummond cemetery following Requiem Service in St. Brigid’s Church on Saturday.
He is survived by his wife Marie, daughters Teresa and Deirdre, son Rory, grandchildren, brothers Paddy and Frank, sister Nan and wider family circle.
