Fianna Fáil to set up office in south Armagh

November 5, 2008

In an historic move, Fianna Fáil is expected to open an office in south Armagh within the next few weeks.

It is understood that the office will be in the Crossmaglen area and will formally mark the intention of the government party in the South to become involved in politics on an all-Ireland basis.

Earlier in the year, such moves were discussed at a meeting of the North/South body in the Carrickdale Hotel, which was attended by the outgoing Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.

While there has been no official announcement as yet from Dublin, all the indications are that Fianna Fail will set up a branch in the locality which will be fully operational before the year is out.
