Scanner provision on Ministers’ meeting agenda

April 20, 2010

The Newry and Armagh MP and DRD Minister, Conor Murphy, has announced that he is to meet with Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, tomorrow (Tuesday).

Mr Murphy says the meeting, which is to take place in Stormont buildings, will provide an opportunity for discussion regarding the provision of a state of the art multi-slice CT scanner for Daisy Hill Hospital.

“This scanner has been in the pipeline for a long time.  I am glad for this opportunity to move things along and ensure that this vital piece of equipment is delivered to Daisy Hill,” he said.

“Daisy Hill Hospital is at the epicenter of healthcare provision in this area and as such it warrants first class facilities.  I am fully committed to lobbying the Health Minister to ensure that the people of this area have access to the most up to date hospital equipment and I hope that the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting will be a guarantee from Mr McGimpsey.”

The Regional Development Minister also said that he hopes this meeting will provide a chance to discuss other important aspects of the service provided at Daisy Hill.

“The level of provision at Daisy Hill must be continually enhanced and I am dedicated to working to achieve this,” he added.
