St Patrick’s Primary School, Crossmaglen Gets a big Thank You following 30th Anniversary Walk for MS Thank You Luncheon.
Action MS, Northern Ireland’s multiple sclerosis charity visited St Patrick’s Primary School, Crossmaglen to say a very special Thank You following the schools’ outstanding success in the 30th Anniversary Walk for MS Million Miles: Million Smiles Campaign.
The school was crowned Southern Area Winners at a special Thank You Luncheon in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast on Tuesday 2nd February. However the fourteen pupils invited along were unable to be there to collect their awards.
Recently Action MS Chief Executive Ann Walker MBE and School Projects officer Rosemary Gribben went along to St Patrick’s Primary School to present awards to the 13 pupils who raised over £100 and one pupil who raised over £200. Altogether 257 pupils at the school raised a winning total of £5,775.55.
Mrs Ann Walker MBE said:
“This year Action MS is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its “Walk for MS”. Action MS first invited young people ‘to take steps to beat MS’ before many of the children, or indeed the teachers, at St Patrick’s Primary School were born.”
Ann went on to say:
“There is no doubt that Walk for MS fundraisers have played a crucial part in the development of services and made it possible for many people to come to terms with the devastating diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. A big thank you to St Patrick’s Primary School, Southern Area Winners 2009.”
Cool FM DJ Connor Phillips sent along his congratulations. Connor said:
“I was very impressed with the effort made by those young people who put their best foot forward and went that extra ten yards to help others. Together they have raised a fantastic amount of money which will be used to support the invaluable work of Action MS.”
