Creggan group enjoys Lottery windfall
August 3, 2010
Creggan Church of Ireland Hall Management Committee has recently been awarded £10,000 via the Big Lottery Fund’s ‘Healthy Minds Scheme.’
The funding will enable the group to continue its Luncheon Club over the September 2010 – March 2011 period and hold other courses including Jewellery making, Basic Computers, Digital Photography, Flower Arranging, Art, Genealogy and dancing classes over the next 12 months.
The funding will also help subsidise part cost of the upcoming Donegal Famine Village Trip where approximately 80 people will visit the impressive venue situated in Doagh, County Donegal.
Speaking on behalf of Creggan C.O.I HMC, Secretary Kenny Donaldson said: “Various National Lottery schemes have supported our efforts at Creggan over the years. On this occasion we extend our deepest appreciation to the Big Lottery Fund for the award they have granted our group. These monies will directly benefit at least 220 people. We will be particularly seeking to target those who are aged and who are isolated as well as those with learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities.
“As always, our group will seek to be as inclusive of the wider community as we possibly can,” Mr Donaldson added.
