Spate of burglaries

August 10, 2010

A number of homes in Crossmaglen have been targeted in a recent spate of burglaries in the town, The Examiner has learned.

In the most sinister of these break-ins, a young family fell victim to a creeper-style burglary.  In the early hours of the morning, thieves removed a glass panel from a rear door of the property to gain entry.  Stealing the keys to the family car, they used the vehicle to escape.

Another vehicle was reportedly stolen from a building site outside the town while its owner was working on a property under construction there while other residents have reported the theft of lawnmowers and outdoor equipment.

Householders are being urged to take steps to deter thieves by making sure their property is secured to protect against theft.
