Marion Carroll’s visit to St Patrick’s Cullyhanna

August 24, 2010

Marion Carroll will be attending 7pm Mass in St Patrick’s Church Cullyhanna on Friday 3rd September 2010. This is a significant date in Marion’s life because 21 years previously (3rd Sept 1989) Marion was cured at Our Lady of Knock Shrine of Multiple Sclerosis,

Her symptoms started in 1978 just after the birth of her first child.  During the period of her illness she had lost the use of both legs, was blind in the right eye and had only partial use of her left, she had almost constant kidney infections, became doubly incontinent, her speech was slurring badly and her throat muscles were gradually contracting.

Marion states that Jimmy’s (her husband) devotion and the Family Rosary were rays in her darkness.  When a car Jimmy had proudly purchased had to be sold to pay medical bills, Jimmy pushed her to Mass in her wheelchair, one and a half miles each way.

She had a great longing to go to Lourdes, but the family’s finances ruled that out.  At the beginning of September 1989 a friend called to her home and said he was free to take her to Knock on the 3rd September, initially Marion said no, but later agreed to go.

Come and hear Marion tell in her down-to-earth manner her own inspiring story of her cure at Our Lady of Knock shrine.   All are welcome.  After Mass Marion will talk to people individually.    For further information contact Dymphna at 30861033.
