Radio 1’s Aled at the Bank Newry, Saturday 28th August
August 24, 2010
Aled from Chris Moyles Show Radio 1 will be DJingat The Bank Newry on Saturday 28 August. Following the appearances of Radio 1 Djs such as Scott Mills, Greg James, Comedy Dave, Chappers and Dominic Byrne at The Bank, the Newry venue have secured the services of Aled for his Irish debut. The word in Radio 1 is that The Bank Newry is one of the best clubs in the UK, with Scott Mills even claiming that The Bank is his favourite venue.
Born and bred in Aberystwyth, Aled Haydn Jones made his name as “BB Aled” – one of Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles’ team, broadcasting live to millions of listeners across the UK.
Aled joined the BBC in 1999 working as a broadcast assistant on the Radio 1 Roadshow and then later became a part of the launch team for Radio 1’s ‘One Big Sunday’.

In 2001 while Aled was working as a Broadcast Assistant on the Dave Pearce show, Chris Moyles invited him on to his afternoon show to do one-off reviews of the second series of ‘Big Brother’. He ended up staying for the whole ‘Big Brother’ series, following every twist and turn of the house and its housemates. He became known as ‘BB Aled’ and the name has stuck.
When one of Chris’ team – Lizzie – left the afternoon show, Aled was asked to take her place and became a permanent fixture on Radio 1 between 3.00pm and 5.45pm every weekday.
In January 2004 Chris Moyles took over from mum-to-be Sara Cox on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show and Aled went with him.
Aled now produces the Chris Moyle’s show, as well as hosting his own show on a Sunday night, ‘The Surgery.’
ALED FROM RADIO 1 WILL BE AT THE BANK NEWRY ON SAT 28 AUGUST.
