Slimmers hand over weighty cheque

August 31, 2010

Mullaghbawn Slimming World members who have been losing pounds (lbs), have also gained £££’s for charity by raising a fantasti £540 for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal, thanks to sponsorship gained from a five mile walk in Slieve Gullion Forest Park in July.

Expressing her appreciation, Group consultant Kate Quinn said: “My heartfelt thanks to all those who took part for their fantastic support of our child’s voice appeal.  Their fundraising efforts will enable Childline to answer many more calls from desperate children, who have nowhere else to turn.

“As well as raising much needed funds, members also had a great day, engaging in some brilliant ‘magic’, which is including some regular moderate exercise in your life.”

Body Magic, coupled with Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan, has been helping slimmers for four decades to lose weight without deprivation, guilt or hunger.  Our Healthy eating plan is based around a unique ‘free food’ system.  These are foods like lean meat, fish, pasta, rice, spuds, fat free dairy, eggs and fruit and veg.  Slimmers who follow Slimming Worlds eating plans, in particular our new ‘Extra Easy’ plan, eat free foods without having to count, weight or measure, so they lose weight without ever going hungry.

As well as filling up on ‘free food’, members enjoy measured portions of milk and cheese, and wholegrain cereals and beans, and limit themselves, but are still able to have the treats that typical diets forbid, like crisps, chocolate and alcohol, without any guilt.

Over 300,000 members attend Slimming World groups every week and achieve outstanding success.  Members lose 17,857 stones every week, 2,551 stones every day over 106 stones every hour, that’s 1 stone 10lb lost every minute of every day with Slimming World.

Our group in Mullaghbawn is enjoying great success with its weight losses, and as a slimmer myself, I know the highs and lows of losing weight and I’ll be there all the way to offer my support and encouragement,” she added.

The Mullaghbawn group runs every Thursday evening at 5pm and 7pm in Mullaghbawn Community Centre and everyone is welcome to come along, men and women alike.  If you have any further queries, feel free to contact Kate on 07803600877 or log on to to find out more.
