police on both sides of the border are searching for a gang who stole a 4×4 jeep with a teenage girl on board before throwing her out of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle had stopped outside a farmhouse in the village of Annayalla near Castleblayney, leaving the girl inside.

A man then got out of a car parked nearby, got into the 4×4, started the ignition and told the girl to get out.  When she refused, he drove for a short distance before stopping and throwing her out onto the road.

Two men remained inside the other car used by the gang which was seen parked near where the 4×4 was stolen.  It drove ahead of the stolen vehicle during the incident.

Gardaí contacted the PSNI following the hijack, after it was reported that the stolen vehicle was driven in the direction of the Keady.
