Launch of 30th Lislea Drama Festival: 1982-2011

On Saturday 5th February, Lislea Drama Festival Committee were very pleased to launch the 30th Anniversary of The Lislea Drama Festival in The Old School House Theatre.

This year’s festival will open on Saturday 26th February with the play ‘Philadelphia, Here I Come’ by Brian Friel and is presented by Cloonacool Players, Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo who are welcome newcomers to this successful festival.

Our 30th anniversary programme also invites patrons to a unique theatre opportunity, to view a play never before performed in Ireland. The multi-award winning Lislea Dramatic Players will present the Irish Premiere stage adaptation of the classic film, ‘On the Waterfront’ by Budd Schulberg and Stan Silverman on Wednesday 9th February.

The festival committee is delighted to have the continued backing of LENCO Construction Ltd. as our main sponsor.  LENCO Construction Ltd specialise in engineering contracts for telecommunication installations, gas and water distribution systems, electrical power and the associated civil engineering works on the Station Road, Armagh.  A special word of thanks must be given to the proprietors, Mr Gerry Courtney and Mr. John Lennon for lending support to the festival.

The festival will conclude on Sunday 13th March, with adjudication by Kathleen Barrington.  Mr. John Campbell, Chairperson of the Lislea Drama Festival Committee is delighted with the continued support from all groups especially those who have travelled from near and far.

Patrons will be pleased to note that Season Tickets will go on sale on Saturday 12th February from 3-5pm in The Old School House Theatre, Lislea priced at £30.
