Clean sweep for south Armagh clubs at county finals of Scór na nÓg

November 25, 2008

At last night’s (Sunday) county final of Scór na nÓg, south Armagh clubs swept the boards, with five clubs from the area taking all eight titles up for grabs.

So high was the standard, that competition was fierce and in the end, there was little to divide the ultimate winners from the runners-up.
The host club, Silverbridge Harps, was successful in three categories, quiz, recitation and solo singing. Megan Burns won the Solo Singing category and with the title, was presented with the Roisin Stewart Cup, awarded annually to the winner of this section.
Miceál Muckian took first place in the Recitation section while Eimear Reel, Peter Reel and Eamon McCrave made up the successful Quiz team.
Silverbridge was also awarded the Most Improved Club while Eire Og won Club of the Year.
Dromintee dancers were successful in both the Ceili and Set Dancing sections while Cullyhanna won the Novelty Act category. Carrickcruppen Ballad Group was announced as the overall winner in this category and the county title for the Instrumental Group section went to Mullaghbawn.
These clubs will now go on to represent their county in the Ulster semi-finals which will be held in Edmund Rice College, Glengormley on Friday 12th December at 7.30pm.
