The High Kings

December 20, 2011

For centuries, Ireland was ruled by High Kings. As their reign came to an end, their deeds and stories merged into the world of legend and myth and the High Kings of Ireland were no more except in story, music and song. Until now. Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden, renowned vocalists and musicians, have come together to create the most exciting Irish ballad group to emerge since The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem electrified the worldwide folk revival of the 1960s.

The High Kings have had a whirlwind journey in the past 2 years, and have seen their popularity skyrocket, having completed sellout tours in Ireland and the US. They secured their reputation as a fantastic live band by winning Best Folk Act 2009, at Ireland’s Music Awards, and have been in great demand for TV Appearances, including Tubridy Tonight’s New Year’s Eve show and Pat Kenny’s last ever Late Late Show.   There is more to come from this group of accomplished Musicians and Vocalists, and 2012 promises to be just as successful.
