Acclaimed Fiddler headlines inaugural Folk Club of local Comhaltas branch

April 24, 2012

The newly established Crossmaglen branch of Comhaltas – An Bonnán Buí – is set to host its first Folk Club this weekend, with the renowned fiddle player Zoe Conway and her husband John McIntyre as the headline act.

Securing the participation of Zoe is a major coup for An Bonnan Buí in this the first of what is hoped will be regular Folk Club events.

‘Fiddle whirlwind’ Zoe Conway is held in extremely high regard by musicians across the world.  Her impressive CV includes performances with Riverdance, the RTE Concert Orchestra, Rodrigo Gabriela, Cara Dillon, and picking up an All-Ireland Senior Fiddle title on the way.

In the past few years, Zoe, along with her husband John (formerly of chart-topping Irish band The Revs), has been producing some incredibly well received performances across the globe and her two albums ‘Zoe Conway’ and ‘The Horse’s Tail’ have received much acclaim.

The Folk Club concert will take place in the Rangers Hall this Friday 27th April.  Doors open at 8.30pm and concert will commence at 9pm sharp.

Ahead of the concert, Zoe will deliver a fiddle workshop earlier in the day.  This workshop presents a rare opportunity for interested fiddle players of all standards to learn from one of the country’s top musical maestros.

Members of sister branches of Comhaltas, together with any musician interested in playing fiddle, are duly invited to participate in this workshop.  For more information contact Pearse on 0035387 6779 108.
