Silverbridge pensioner badly shaken

December 23, 2008

A Silverbridge pensioner became the latest victim of a spate of recent burglaries in the area when a gang of masked men forced their way into her home on Tuesday evening last.

Around 7.30pm, a neighbour who was visiting the 83-year-old lady at the time, answered a knock to the door and was confronted by two men who pushed him back into the living room of the house in Daly Park.

Both the elderly lady and her neighbour were detained in the living room while the robbers made their way around the house, ransacking drawers and cupboards.  They fled with a sum of cash through the back door of the property when the lady’s daughter arrived.

It is believed up to three men were involved in the robbery.  They made their escape in a silver coloured Volvo estate car and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a vehicle fitting this description in the area around the time stated.

Despite being very shaken by her ordeal, the victim was able to give police a very detailed description of the robbers and an investigation into the incident is continuing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the PSNI on 0845 600 8000 or, alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.after robbery by masked gang
