A Silverbridge teenager has made it through to the finals of Teen Face of Northern Ireland, a pageant to be hosted by The Canal Court Hotel on 22nd August.

Fifteen year old Gemma Walsh was carefully selected from hundreds of applicants after she sent a picture and profile into the competition during its’ Facebook campaign.  Following an interview in Banbridge with contest organisers and judges, Gemma discovered a few weeks ago that she had been selected to go forward to the final, the winner of which will represent Northern Ireland in the final of the Teen Face of Europe to be held in Disneyland in November.

Speaking to The Examiner, the young St. Joseph’s High School student told us she was thrilled to have made it so far and excited about the upcoming final, which will involve modelling White Wear, Party Wear and Evening Wear.

As the competition is not simply judged on beauty alone, contestants will also get the chance to share a bit about themselves on stage and are expected to strive for other titles within the competition, one of which is Miss Charity.  Gemma has chosen to work towards this title in order to raise money for the Rainbow Child foundation.

She hopes to hold several fundraisers over the coming months in aid of her chosen charity, the first of which was a hugely successful cake sale in her school last Friday.  RedFella’s bar in Glassdrummond will be the venue in July for a quiz night organised by Gemma, with all proceeds going to the Rainbow Child Foundation.

The young hopeful will be working hard this summer to achieve her Miss Charity title and, with family and friends and Silverbridge behind her, hopefully Gemma will be representing Northern Ireland in Europe this November.
