Get your “Ass” in gear for the Cornamucklagh Donkey Derby Festival 2012

July 24, 2012

Back by popular demand, the Donkey Derby Festival will host a three day event, from Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th August 2012.  In the past five years, the festival has donated over €250,000 to much needed charities and local organisations, such as;  Parkinson’s Disease Society, Cancer Research, Mater Hospital Cancer Treatment Ward, & Southern Area Hospice Services.

This year’s Donkey Derby will be bigger and better than ever.  A Friday night “Guest Tea” will open the festival, reeling in the years with entertainment from Big O’, John Glen & Band and a Christy Moore tribute band.  Not forgetting our locals who will give us an auld story and a song or two.

Saturday will see the vintage tractor demonstration in the big field, with petting farms, kid’s treasure hunts, face painting, magician shows and something to amuse the whole family.  The famous Donkey Derby Barn Dance will then take place on Saturday night with entertainment from “Willin Fools” in the marquee; admission is €10 and can be paid at the door.

Sunday is race day and with local radio station, Five FM broadcast live from the field, for the entire day, this year’s Donkey Derby will be one to remember.  A derby with a difference, “It’s a Knockout and the best entertainment we’ve ever had.  So pack up the family and join us for this year’s Donkey Derby Festival for a weekend filled with family fun and the best craic yet, we’ll even let you park for free.  Cornamucklagh House, Ferryhill Road, Co.
