Councillor Hearty urges attendance at Crossmaglen Community Meeting

September 12, 2012

Local Sinn Féin councillor Terry Hearty has urged residents of Crossmaglen and the surrounding district to attend the latest Community Meeting which will be held in Crossmaglen Community Centre on Wednesday 12th September at 7pm.

Councillor Hearty said, “I arrange these types of meetings periodically throughout the year as it gives local residents an opportunity to come face to face with statutory agencies and put their queries and questions directly to them.

“At Wednesday’s meeting there will be representatives in attendance from the Housing Executive, Newry & Mourne District Council, Community Safety Partnership, PSNI and Environmental Health so if local people have any issues it is a good place to raise them.

“I would urge people from all of the local resident’s groups in Crossmaglen, Culloville, Cullyhanna, Silverbridge and other outlying areas to come along.  Also representatives from any local sporting bodies and any community and voluntary groups would be more than welcome to attend.”

In the past meetings like this one have dealt with issues such as antisocial behaviour, drug and alcohol abuse, joyriding and housing problems.
