Newry to host Employer Awareness Breakfast Seminar

An Employer Awareness Breakfast Event heads to Newry on Thursday 27 September 2012 in the Canal Court hotel, Merchants Quay, Newry from 8am to 9.30am.

The free event, which is open to all businesses in the Newry and surrounding areas, has been organised by the Department for Employment and Learning in partnership with Newry and Mourne District Council.

Employers will be given an overview of the range of services available to them from the Department for Employment and Learning, including Steps to Work, Pathways, Investors in People, ApprenticeshipsNI, Bridge to Employment and Management and Leadership programmes.

Highlighting the benefits to local businesses, Clare Mooney, Employer Contact Manager for the Department for Employment and Learning described the event as an excellent opportunity for employers in the Newry and Mourne are to gain an insight into the range of programmes and support DEL can offer.

“Employers will be able to learn first hand about the range of opportunities available, whether wishing to improve workplace learning, address skills gaps, enhance management techniques or simply to recruit new staff with the assistance of our website and employer subsidies.”

The guest speaker at the event is Eamonn Connolly, MD of award winning company, SIPFIT, which manufactures Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) as a sustainable modern method of construction manufactured off-site. They provide solutions for rapid build low carbon buildings throughout the UK and aim to grow into the international market.

Eamonn will provide an overview on how the Department for Employment and Learning’s programmes have been of benefit to his company.

Other organisations such as Newry and Mourne District Council, the Equality Commission, Labour Relations Agency, Invest NI, Health and Safety at Work, Careers Service, Wade Training, Parity and Business in the Community will be on hand to provide advice and guidance to all companies in attendance. There will also be networking opportunities.

Employers are invited to register early as places are limited.  A light breakfast will be provided.
