MLA condemns petrol bomb attack on popular Newry Man

October 2, 2012

Sinn Féin MLA Mickey Brady has condemned an attack on popular Newry man, Damien McKevitt’s vehicle.

Mr Brady said,

“I am shocked to learn that Damien has been targeted in this way once again. It appears that the culprits threw a concrete block through his car window before setting the car alight in the early hours of this morning.

“The inside of the vehicle is completely gutted and the car is a write off.

“This is particularly upsetting since the same thing happened to Damien a number of years ago.

“There does not appear to be any motive or reasoning behind this attack. It would be useful if those responsible would come forward and let us all know what they hoped to achieve by this arson attack.

“I am sure that this attack, though very annoying and worrying for Damien and his family, will not succeed in intimidating Damien in any way.”

Mr Brady appealed for anyone who may have any information to bring it to the PSNI and said “Attacks like this are attacks on the whole community and should not be tolerated.”
