Vicious attack on Barcroft Hill

Police have launched an appeal for information following a vicious assault which took place on Barcroft Hill, Newry in the early hours of last Friday morning.

Some time between 2.15am and 2.40am, three masked men launched a ferocious attack on a thirty four year old male who was walking up Barcroft Hill towards Loanda Crescent.

Unable to fend off his assailants, the victim was struck repeatedly with wooden bats and sustained significant bruising and swelling to his arms, legs and torso.  The unprovoked attack left the man in need of medical treatment at Daisy Hill Hospital for his injuries, which were not believed to be life threatening.
