Newry Bomb hoax disrupts traffic for ten hours

A hoax bomb on the Warrenpoint Road disrupted traffic in the vicinity for ten hours over the weekend and security forces were forced to cordon of the area following a phone call on Saturday night.
The main Newry to Warrenpoint dual carriageway was blocked off at Narrow Water and the Greenbank Roundabout until Sunday evening and traffic was re-diverted via the Grinan Road.

November 9 2008 marked another milestone in the illustrious history of Crossmaglen Rangers. It was on this day that the defending Ulster champions began their quest for a third title in a row by welcoming competition debutants St Patrick’s, Fermanagh to their splendid new pitch at St Oliver Plunkett Park, Crossmaglen.

St Patrick’s (Armagh) 0-9 Greenlough (Derry) 0-11
St Patrick’s, Cullyhanna failed to produce near their best at St Oliver Plunkett Park, Crossmaglen and made a very tame exit to Derry champions Greenlough in the Ulster Intermediate Championship. Well positioned on level terms at the break having faced the stiff breeze, St Pat’s attack failed to function as a unit and were eventually edged out 0-11 to 0-9 after the teams had been on level terms seven times throughout the match.
Teenager fights off attacker during indecent assault

A teenage girl is recovering following an attempted indecent assault in Newry at the weekend.
The fifteen-year-old was walking on the Old Warrenpoint Road in the early hours of Saturday morning when she was grabbed by a man. The teenager managed to fight off her attacker and escape.
She did not suffer any physical injuries in the attack, however police have said she was left “very badly shaken” by her ordeal. Read more
