Volunteer responders attend first emergency call

Members of The Crossmaglen and District First Responders team were dispatched to their very first emergency call last week. The vital lifeline for south Armagh, which began operating last month, has proven its benefit to the district after helping to treat an individual during an emergency call out last Monday night. As a result of the efforts of the volunteer emergency responders and paramedics from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), it is understood the person involved is making a full recovery. Mickey Harte’s youthful looking Tyrone side strolled to O’Fiaich Cup success in very cold conditions at Crossmaglen’s St Oliver Plunket Park on Sunday. Harte made only three changes from the team that put Derry to the sword by a similar scoreline a week earlier. Jonathan Monroe was unable to play due to a hamstring injury and was replaced by Kieran McGeary at left-half back, while up front C Meyler and C McShane were replaced by the impressive Lee Brennan and David Mulgrew.
