Brave Ellen completes US trial vaccine treatment
Little Ellen Traynor has returned to her Bessbrook home having completed her initial clinical trial vaccine treatment in New York.
Announcing the news that the brave four-year-old had received the third and final vaccine in the treatment programme, Ellen’s mother Claire said the family were excited to fly home on Wednesday.
Accompanying a photo of Ellen and her sister Lucy, Clare wrote: “Ellen is just back from the hospital where she completed vaccine number 3, she was as brave as ever. “New York has been amazing, and the girls have had a brilliant time in between hospital appointments, but there really is no place like home.”
Ellen spent three weeks under the care of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre were she underwent a series of tests alongside the specialist vaccine trial programme, which offers her the best chance against potential relapse, having been diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma in January last year.
