Ciaran McKeever hangs up his boots after 14 years
After 14 years of service to his County, Armagh defender Ciaran McKeever has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
The St Patrick’s, Cullyhanna clubman has rightfully earned the right to be associated with the best Armagh has ever produced. His leadership qualities, his never say die attitude and the guarantee of “the 110%” effort, saw him spend the last 6 years as Armagh captain.
The 34-year-old, who played the game on the edge, which often took away from just how good a footballer he was, bows out having captained Armagh to All-Ireland U21 glory and won Division One and Division Three titles with the county, picked up four Ulster titles and played in three International Rules series for Ireland.
Given his track record and dedication to the GAA, when Ciaran calls a halt to his playing days with his native parish, he will not be short of offers of roles to be able to pass to others his vast experience and football knowledge.
