Coach firm hit with massive repair bill
The owner of a private coach company in Crossmaglen, which has been in operation for more than 40 years, has hit out at those behind the vandalism of one of his buses that has resulted in thousands of pounds worth of damage.
The coach had been parked in the yard of the family-run business at Cregganduff Road when the vandals struck around 8pm on Monday last, October 31st, smashing every window in the 52-seater bus. Extensive damage was also caused to the vehicle’s bodywork.
Speaking to The Examiner about the incident, Gerard Moley, of Moley Coaches spoke of his shock and disappointment and revealed repairs will run into thousands of pounds.
“We’re at the [Cregganduff] crossroads 35 years and nothing like this has ever happened before. The damage will cost thousands to repair with all the windows on the vehicle needing replaced. This really shouldn’t be happening and I’m at a loss to explain it,” he said.
Established by husband-and-wife team, Gerry and Rose, the Moley family has operated the business for more than four decades. The bus targeted in the incident is one of a fleet of luxury coaches the company provides for both private and corporate hire throughout Ireland and the UK.
Mr Moley has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed this wanton attack or who has any information to come forward. The PSNI is also investigating.
