Couple appear in court following £20k cannabis seizure
A 40-year-old man and 39-year-old woman have appeared in court charged with a number of offences after police stopped a car on the Tandragee Road in Newry on Friday afternoon and uncovered £20,000 worth of cannabis in the vehicle.
Detective Inspector Millar said the seizure was yet another example of the PSNI’s commitment to policing the threat posed by drugs.
“We want to ensure that we are doing everything possible to prevent the supply of drugs and arrest those involved while at the same time making people aware of the real danger posed to their health and their lives if they take illegal or controlled drugs,” he said.
“We are committed to tackling the issue of drugs and would appeal to the public to speak to us if they have any concerns or information regarding drugs in their area.”
The couple appeared in Newry Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon.
