Crossmaglen businessman creates clever queue jumping app

A Crossmaglen businessman has devised a clever new app which allows users to pre-order food and drinks and beat the queues at their favourite restaurants and coffee shops.

Ross Kernan, Managing Director of RKM Marketing, says the idea for the ‘Q Kangaroo’ queue jumping app came to him during one of his frequent work trips, when he began to think about how he could optimise his time whilst stuck at airports between flights.

Along with a team of experts in Dundalk and India, Ross began developing the idea for the ‘Q Kangaroo’ app about twelve months ago.

The innovative app allows customers to effectively ‘queue jump’ by ordering ahead and prepaying for a coffee or food order to pick up, avoiding the need to join the queue once you get there.  The app also tracks pending orders and notifies users when their orders are ready.

The Q Kangaroo app has been rolled out to three popular Dundalk cafes over the last three months, with Mr Kernan reporting “fantastic feedback” from them so far.   The app is now going through beta testing with 20,000 staff at Dublin Airport.

The ambitious businessman is keen to operate the app in transport and travel hubs around the country and plans to develop additional functional apps focusing on the transport sector are also in the pipeline.

Q Kangaroo is now available for download on iOS and Android. See

The app is operational in Dundalk coffee shops: Riva on Earl Street, Panama at Dundalk town square and Cafe Aqua in Dundalk.
