Crossmaglen PP to retire on health grounds
The Parish Priest of Upper Creggan, Fr. Joe McKeever, is to retire on medical grounds, Archbishop Eamon Martin has announced.
Based in Crossmaglen parochial house, Fr. McKeever will relinquish his role at the end of next month. Curate Fr. Liam McKinney will act as administrator until a new parish priest is appointed.
A late vocation to the priesthood, Fr. McKeever, a former teacher, was ordained in 1991. He previously administered in Dundalk and Dungannon before being appointed curate to the then PP Fr. McGeough, in Crossmaglen, almost 17 years ago.
Having suffered ill health in recent years, Fr. McKeever will spend his retirement close to his family in his native Ballyhegan.
