Danny Kennedy selected as UUP Newry and Armagh election candidate

Local Assembly Member, Danny Kennedy has been unanimously endorsed as the Ulster Unionist Party’s Newry and Armagh candidate for the forthcoming election. Mr Kennedy received the full support of his colleagues at last week’s Annual General Meeting of the Newry and Armagh Ulster Unionist Association.

A large turnout of members and elected representatives gathered in Markethill for the event where Guest speaker for the evening was Ulster Unionist Assembly Member, Steve Aiken OBE MLA.

Local Assembly Member, Danny Kennedy and Mr Aiken provided an overview of the current political crisis affecting the devolved institutions in Northern Ireland and discussed with members the impending Assembly Election.

Speaking at the event, the UUP representative said he was “enormously humbled and proud to be chosen as the Ulster Unionist Party candidate” and he said that both he and his Party would campaign on a positive basis “and offer a constructive alternative to the dysfunctional style of Government offered by the two largest Parties at present.”
