Dorsey Duo to Hike Mount Kilimanjaro for KBRT
Standing at almost 20,000 feet, and having to trek a gruelling 62 kilometers to reach the summit which, at times, can see temperatures plummit to as low as -20, this is a task not to be underestimated.
But 2 local men are going to take up that challenge for the aid of the excellent Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. The charity was set up in 2013 by the Bell family after a personal tragedy in memory of their Son Kevin. Since then, the charity has helped hundreds of families in need across all 32 counties.
Ciaran McCann and Shane Mccreesh will be starting their trek up Mount Kilmanjaro on July 3rd, which is the highest free standing mountain in the world.
The 2 proud Dorsey Emmet’s players, they have personally funded the trip so every donation will be going directly to the KBRT trust.
The 2 lads have been training hard since the turn of the year hitting summits more locally such as Carrauntoohill in Kerry which is Ireland highest point, and in June will be scaling Britians highest peak in Ben Nevis.
The KBRT is a very well got charity around the Local area as everyone is well aware of.
A 24 hour travelling schedule awaits the lads from their homes in Dorsey to Moshi Town, Tanzania, Africa, home of the huge Summit.
Two high profile fundraisers have been planned to raise money for KBRT, one of which is a country music night which takes place in Cross Square Hotel on May 11th, with music on the night by Kevin Kearney, One of the original Indians, supported by Country Harmony.
The other will be on in Garvey’s Bar on the bank holiday weeked of Sunday June 2nd with music on the night by Setanta. The Lads greatly appreciate the work of Gérard and Geraldine McMonagle of Cross Square Hotel and Eamonn Keenan of Garvey’s Bar who have been great in the organising of both events.
With these being a charity fundraiser the 2 men would encourage any local people or business’ to dig deep for the KBRT trust and for any who would like to donate contact either Ciaran (07783548278) or Shane (07907642184) or contact them via messager on Facebook. They also have a gofundme page set up it is www.gofundme.com/Dorsey2Kilmanjaro
Anyone wishing to donate a spot prize for the fundraisers would be greatly appreciated.
