Driver rams Garda patrol car before escaping across border

Gardaí in Dundalk are seeking information on sightings of a UK-registered vehicle, which rammed a patrol car while being pursued close to the border.

The grey Audi estate, bearing the registration OWO3 DPU was detected being driven in Dundalk on Thursday 23rd August, after travelling across the border from the north.

A Garda spokesperson revealed the vehicle was linked to criminal activity, including burglaries and may have been fitted with a false number plate.

Officers attempted to stop the car, which had four male occupants, pursuing it along the Castleblayney Road.  However, the driver of the Audi struck a parked taxi before reversing and ramming the Garda car, then escaped across the border into south Armagh, Gardaí said.
