Dundalk man killed in border crash

A 23 year old Dundalk man has died following a road accident in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The single vehicle collision occurred close to the border at Ballybinaby, Hackballscross around 2.20am yesterday morning (Sunday 25th February).

The driver of the vehicle, named as Andrew Smith from Dundalk, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later with his remains removed to the Louth County Hospital.

The road between Hackballscross and Shelagh remained closed for most of the day while examinations were carried out at the scene.
