Handball champ thanks everyone for support and prayers
A young handball champion who was seriously injured in an accident in Crossmaglen in the early hours of 27th December has thanked people for their support and prayers as he continues his recovery.
Twenty one year old Conall McCavitt was struck by a car after spending St. Stephen’s night socializing with friends. He sustained serious injuries and had been in an induced coma for a number of weeks as medical staff fought to save his life. He has undergone a number of surgeries and get well wishes from across the globe have poured in for the world champion handball player.
Conall’s family had appealed to the community to pray for his recovery and nightly prayer vigils were held in Cullyhanna and Crossmaglen throughout January. At the end of last month his friends, family and community were delighted to hear that the young GAA star was “out of danger” and beginning his long road to recovery.
On Monday last, Conall posted a message on his Facebook page thanking everyone for their support and medical staff for their care.
The message read,
“Hi all, would just like to say I’m thankfully on the road to recovery. I am forever grateful for the support I received from my family, friends, the GAA and local community. The countless prayers and well wishes, along with brilliant medical care, have helped me through this difficult time.
Thanks to all.”
