Kay scoops RSVP Best Bridal Hair Stylist in Ulster award

Renowned local hairdresser, Kay Burns, has scooped the coveted title of Best Bridal Hair Stylist in Ulster in the RSVP Hair Awards 2018.  Fittingly, the bridal award is somewhat of an early wedding gift for the hugely in-demand stylist, as it comes just four weeks before her own nuptials.

The prestigious title is the latest in a long line of achievements and accolades for the hugely in-demand stylist who has carved out a stellar reputation for herself since beginning freelance hairdressing just over three years ago.

Kay’s career has really taken off since going it alone and she has become the go-to stylist  for discerning brides from across the district.  Her beautiful upstyles have landed her a number of covers for national magazines as well as photoshoots with top designers and the 2016 Freelance Hairdresser of the year title at the Irish Hair and Beauty Awards.  The expert stylist also shares her skills,  teaching masterclasses in upstyling across the country, with a recent session in the Carrickdale Hotel completely booked out.

Specialising in bridal hair, Kay understands the importance of achieving an individual look for every bride on their special day, and offers a friendly and professional service in the comfort of her clients’ homes or a chosen venue on the morning of the wedding. As a bride to be herself, Kay certainly knows the importance of a wedding day and the Crossmaglen hairdresser is renowned for her bespoke up styles, with brides booking her to create beautiful, timeless upstyles for their big day.

Every year RSVP Magazine searches for the top salons and stylists from around the country.  According to RSVP,  the magazine first heard of Kay from her amazing reputation as a top class stylist and after further research into the talented hairdresser’s work, she was shortlisted as one of several salons in Ulster before being chosen as the Best Bridal Hair Stylist in Ulster  by the RSVP editorial panel.

Speaking to The Examiner about her latest achievement, Kay told us she didn’t know she was in the running until she received a call from RSVP telling her they had nominated her for an award in the prestigious competition.

“I’ve been so busy and was just coming back from teaching a masterclass in  Galway when RSVP called me to say I’d been shortlisted after they saw some of my work on social media. I was thrilled to be shortlisted and never expected to hear anything more about it so it was a total surprise to get the call back to say I’d actually won! I absolutely  love what I do and to get recognition for it, especially amongst such stiff competition, is just brilliant.”

It seems the RSVP award has already helped to launch Kay globally with her very first US based client making a booking for her upcoming wedding in Ireland this September.

“Amazingly, this American lady found me via hashtag links about my RSVP award on Instagram.  She got in touch and after a chat about what she wants on the big day, she’s now a client booked for September!”  In fact, with her talent and skills becoming more and more widely acclaimed, it’s little wonder the Crossmaglen coiffeuse is boasting a full appointment book for the rest of this year and all of 2019.

“Things have just taken off so much in the last two years and I can’t believe I’m booked right up to 2020, with a few bookings already taken for it.  I’m absolutely delighted to have won the Best Bridal Hair Stylist award from RSVP. None of this would have been possible without all the gorgeous brides I have worked with along the years and I look forward to many more years helping brides look their best on their special day.”
