Local pupil Laura excelled at Environmental Youth Speak 2015

Congratulations to Laura, St Malachy’s Primary School, Camlough who represented Newry and Mourne District Council in the junior heat of the Environmental Youth Speak finals held in the Civic Centre, Lisburn on 10th March.

The aim of this competition is to encourage environmental awareness among young people by providing them with an opportunity to research and debate environmental issues.  The junior section them was: ‘A day in the life of a waste super hero’.

The competition  is organised by Northern Ireland’s Three Waste Management Groups (Arc 21, Swamp and the North West in co=operation with Rethink Waste and Cookstown Textile recyclers).

Laura was crowned the junior winner of SWaMP Regional Heat.   She then progressed to the grand final and was runner-up.
