Louth man killed in Warrenpoint construction accident
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is continuing its investigation into a tragic accident on a construction site in Warrenpoint in which a County Louth man was killed.
The man, who has been named as Ronan Mulroy from Monasterboice, died while working on a construction site in the Church Street area of Warrenpoint in the early hours of last Friday morning. The HSE was immediately informed of the accident and investigations are ongoing.
The 38 year old was part of a construction team who were putting up new lamp posts as part of a regeneration project in the seaside town.
Local representative Sinead Bradley said the death had left the town “shocked and upset”.
“It is deeply shocking and upsetting to learn that a young man who was busy at his work met with such an untimely death,” she added.
SDLP South Down MP Margaret Ritchie said: “Warrenpoint has been deeply moved by this horrible incident where a young man, out to earn his living, has had his life tragically cut short.”
