New Eurospar planned for Newtownhamilton
Newtownhamilton is set for a major multi-million pound Eurospar to be built on the former Fane Valley Livestock Sales premises, after plans for the new development were submitted to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for consideration.
The Fane Valley The site was formerly used for the fortnightly Fane Valley Livestock Sales before the operation of the mart was taken on by Markethill Livestock Sales in 2013. Now, the Henderson Group, which is behind brand names such as Spar, Eurospar, Vivo, VivoXtra and Vivo Essentials, has brought forward the Newtownhamilton plans to totally redeveloped and the site.
It is understand the supermarket will also include a separate filling station and will bring 16 new jobs to the town. The proposals include in excess of 70 car parking spaces and an on site ATM machine which is sure to be welcomed by the town which recently lost its local bank.
The shop will also feature an in-store butchery and deli, as well as newsagents and fresh flowers, home-made ice cream and coffee area.
