Official opening of Killean Primary School new build
Killean Primary School celebrated the completion of a School Enhancement Programme with the official opening of its £1.5 million new premises.
Staff and pupils were pleased to welcome Permanent Secretary for the Department of Education, Derek Baker, and Mr Gerry Campbell from the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) to officially open the new facilities which include Multi-Purpose Hall with kitchen and refurbished class rooms, renovation of the main school entrance and office, additional car parking and roof repairs.
The scheme was delivered under the School Enhancement Programme (SEP) which provides much needed facilities to improve school environments.
Speaking at the official opening Mr Baker said,
“It is a pleasure to be here for the opening of the new facilities.
“The new accommodation will provide young people with a safe and friendly environment to develop their own individual skills which can have a positive impact on their local communities.
“It is clear from looking at these excellent new facilities that the School Enhancement Programme is having very real benefits for our schools estate, providing much needed facilities and creating a better place in which pupils can learn and flourish.”
Principal of Killean PS, Mrs Campbell, said,
“The SEP has given Killean PS state of the art facilities for the children of Killean for this generation and for future generations to come.”
