Police probe Newry body find

Detectives have launched an investigation after the body of a man was discovered in the area of the Old Warrenpoint Road in Newry yesterday (Sunday) morning.

The deceased, aged in his thirties, was found in a house in the Marshes housing development.

The find prompted police to erect a cordon around the two-storey property and the road was closed to traffic for a period while officers carried out a forensic examination of the scene.

At time of going to print, it remains unknown if the death is being treated as suspicious, however a spokesperson for the PSNI confirmed a post mortem examination will be carried out “in due course” in a bid to determine the cause of death.
