Toddler critically injured in garden pond accident
A toddler is in a critical condition in hospital after falling into a garden pond at his grandparents’ home near Crossmaglen, The Examiner has learned.
The sixteen-month-old was visiting his grandmother on the Ballsmill Road on Friday afternoon when he wandered off. After a frantic search of the property, the tot was tragically found to have fallen into the garden pond at the rear of the house.
The incident was reported to police at 3.30pm as emergency services were called to the scene and the little boy was rushed to hospital. Police confirmed the child is in “a critical but stable condition” and that their enquiries into the accident are ongoing.
The family is well-known and respected in the area where the thoughts and prayers of the local community are offered for the child’s full and speedy recovery.
